About Whalore
If you look at any metazoan phylogeny, a trend becomes glaringly obvious—most phyla are primarily marine. Yet most research still relies on a small set of common model organisms. This leaves large pockets of the animal family tree unaccounted for in evolutionary, ecological, biomedical, and developmental research.
Whalore exists to change that by making it possible for anyone, anywhere, to work with the organisms, tissues, and cells they actually need, even if they are rare or difficult to collect.
We collect, culture, and distribute live aquatic organisms for research, education, and experimental work. In addition, we provide preserved specimens, experimental classroom kits, and soon, primary cell lines and whole-genome sequencing data.
All organisms are responsibly collected and established in laboratory culture so they arrive healthy and ready to work with.
